Whether or not you’ve ever spoken a single word of another language, you can learn Spanish.

Learning languages seems like a daunting task but everybody is capable of doing it. Having the ability to converse in another language is a valuable skill to have nowadays.

One obvious way it can be of use is if you travel to a place where the new language is spoken. It’s also very likely that people right in your own city or nearby speak Spanish, making it useful at home too. Spanish is a very popular second language to learn for people who have never studied another language before. If you want to learn Spanish quickly, follow a few simple tips and it will be much easier.

Hiring a tutor is a great idea. Learning from a CD/book is fine! But a tutor can answer your questions and give you individualized help, and that obviously is not possible with a book or CD. Tutors are usually fluent in the languages that they teach. Any good tutor will be knowledgable of the different dialects in the language.

If you plan on using your new language by visiting a country where Speaking Spanish is the dominant language, learning to speak in the local dialect will help you communicate with the people you meet! And what’s more important, a tutor can help you understand informal meanings of certain words. A book or CD will normally teach the formal usage of language. But a tutor can teach you the slang words. If you really want to learn another language, you have to get to the point where you can actually think in it. You may find this hard at first, but you can gradually learn how to transform your thoughts into a new language. You won’t be able to do this very well at first, but be patient. The idea is to take any internal dialogues you might have into the Spanish equivalent as much as possible. The more often you do this, the better you will be at it. You will get faster at the translation. There will come a point when this will become automatic, and you’ll think in Speak Spanish without trying. Once you can think in Speaking Spanish, you can then practice making these thoughts verbal by speaking them out loud; this way your ability to speak the language will also improve.

And remember that practice makes perfect. Even if you feel silly you should practice speaking your language as often as possible. Even if you aren’t great at putting together whole sentences, using the words you know in place of your native language regularly will help commit those words to memory. For example, if you are learning Spanish try using “cena” instead of “dinner” or “uno” for “one.”

By using the words often they’ll become second nature to you. This way you’ll be able to understand the words when you hear others speak them. You’ll be amazed at your ability to understand your new language when you hear it spoken. If you need help in your study of Spanish, there are quite a few tools available that can be of use. There are many sources of assistance; look online or in your local community. One reason there are so many methods is that people have different learning styles. If you try several systems, you’ll eventually find one or more that feel right for you. Speaking Spanish is something you can do; just find the method that works for you and be persistent.
